Three Generations of Delicious Recipes
The legacy continues! Originally opened in 1964 in Highland Park has now been reborn in Lincoln Heights. A true favorite of generations of families in Los Angeles and beyond.
Gustavo and Irene Montes opened El Arco Iris with the hopes of bringing a taste of their native Querataro, Mexico to the people of LA. With the help of their children and later, their grandchildren, it grew from eight tables to a full-service restaurant. Offering signature dishes like chile verde, mole poblano, and carnitas. The family continued to operate the restaurant until 2017 when it closed at the Highland Park location.
Grandson Gus Pelaez had a dream for many years to be able to continue the legacy his grandparents and family built. In 2022, it all came together when he found the new location in Lincoln Heights. All of the original recipes are what set El Arco apart from others - that and the memories that continue to be made.
